There is also a notable lake and spring water known as Akidi and Iyi-agu respectively within the community. These rivers and clinic X-rayed above have formed and have been the boundary Amaetiti has with its neighbouring communities. Amaetiti had an estimated population of about 115,000 as of the 2006 census.
Amaetiti, formerly known as Amaekperime, was changed by Hon. Marcel Nwoye Nwafor through D.O. Okengwu in the year 1957, the time we had only one state in eastern Nigeria having its headquarters in Enugu.
Amaetiti is made up of seven villages, namely:
• Enuko
• Umuegbuo
• Obunetiti
• Usotu
• Amagu / Iwollo
• Umu-mkpulu
• Ikono
These villages enumerated above have their forefather’s as Ezeofia, Onyeanwana, Ihuonyia, Egbuechele, Nwaokafor Ogabu, Ezegbudo, Usotu, Ngwanma, Ekemma, Okeke Mgboyeocha, Mgbomgbo, Ezeonala, Okoye Iluno, Aghamelu, Okoye-Imo, Ibeneme, and Okoye Ngene.
May thanks be to God Almighty who saved Amaetiti town from the Popular “Ogu-Amakorba” and “Okoli Ijeoma” respectively, as these inter-communal wars displaced some of our Indigenes to Ndiowu, Umudioka Awka, Arondizuogu, Iwolo, Enugu-ukwu, Nawgu, Omogho, Ufuma, etc.
The government of Anambra state, Nigeria, have been of help in our maintenance of independence and sovereignty.

MORE ABOUT AMAETITI

GEOGRAPHY

CLIMATE

Because of the effects of the maritime and the continental tropical air masses, the climate of Amaetiti is characterized by two seasons, namely: The rainy or wet season and the dry season. The wet or rainy season lasts for about eight months. The season begins in March or April and lasts until mid-November.

The dry season begins in mid-November and ends in March. During this period, the continental tropical air mass, northeasterly winds and an associated dry and dusty Harmattan haze affects the town. However, due to its proximity to many big rivers and lakes, the harmattan dust haze is relatively mild; it may only last a few weeks between December and January. Our farmers benefit from the harmattan characteristics, as they are suitable for harvesting and storing food crops and fish.

Amaetiti records mostly cool temperatures throughout the year with more rain all year round, even in the dry harmattan season sometimes. For years, Amaetiti temperature typically changes from 650 F to 870 F.

INFRASTRUCTURE

Amaetiti town has a Creche, Nursery and Primary School, a Secondary School in view, a Health Center, a Leprosy Clinic , a Civic Center, a Catholic Mission, Anglican Communion, National Holy Ghost Church of Christ Mission, two tourist centres at Akidi Lake and Mamu River, respectively, notwithstanding gigantic buildings such as skyscraper, duplex, bungalow, underground house, split- level style house, Greek revival, cape cod, craftsman e.t.c.
